📱 How to Use the Apps on Mobile & Desktop

Using on Desktop (Windows/Mac/Chromebook)
  1. Open the app page in a modern browser (Chrome, Edge, or Firefox).
  2. Click Start/Play and follow on-screen prompts.
  3. For audio: ensure your tab isn’t muted (right-click the tab → Unmute site).
  4. Use Ctrl + + or Ctrl + - to adjust zoom.

Tip: Chrome usually gives the smoothest performance for canvas-based games.

Using on Mobile/Tablets (Android/iOS/iPadOS)
  1. Open the app page in Chrome (Android) or Safari/Chrome (iOS/iPadOS).
  2. Tap Play. If audio doesn’t start, tap once on the screen to allow sound.
  3. Rotate your device to landscape for wider games (if needed).
  4. Enable Desktop site (browser menu) if UI looks cramped.

Note: iOS may block auto-play audio until you interact (tap) once.

Classroom Display (Projector/TV)
  • Connect via HDMI or screen cast. Set display scaling to 100% for crisp text.
  • Increase browser zoom to 110–125% so learners can see choices clearly.
  • Use wireless mouse/clicker so pupils can take turns.

🛠️ Troubleshooting

Sound is not playing
  • Click/tap once inside the game area to unlock audio (browser auto-play policy).
  • Check your device volume and make sure the browser/tab isn’t muted.
  • Chrome: Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Site settings → Sound and allow sound.
  • iOS: Ensure the device is not in Silent Mode (toggle the Ring/Silent switch).
Game won’t load or appears cut off
  • Refresh the page (Ctrl + R / pull-to-refresh).
  • Clear cache: open in an Incognito/Private window to test.
  • Disable aggressive ad blockers for this page (they can block scripts or sounds).
  • On mobile, switch to landscape or enable Desktop site.
Buttons don’t respond
  • Make sure you pasted the full app snippet in HTML view (not Compose view).
  • If multiple apps are on one page, place each in its own container to avoid CSS/JS conflicts.
  • Try a different modern browser to rule out older engine issues.
Text-to-Speech or voice not working in Chrome
  • Interact (click/tap) once before audio is triggered (required by Chrome).
  • Check chrome://flags isn’t forcing experimental media settings.
  • Update Chrome to the latest version.

🍎 Teacher Integration Tips

Before the activity
  • State clear objectives (e.g., “Identify CVC patterns” or “Fluent subtraction within 100”).
  • Do a 1-minute tech check: sound, projection, and browser zoom.
  • Prepare a quick rubric (accuracy, strategy, participation).
During the activity
  • Use Think-Aloud modeling for one item, then release to practice.
  • Enable pair or station work—rotate roles (reader, solver, checker, scorer).
  • Gamify: set short rounds (2–3 minutes), celebrate streaks, and encourage error analysis.
After the activity (Assessment & Reflection)
  • Ask: “What strategy helped you most? What will you try next time?”
  • Capture quick exit tickets (paper or oral): 1 similar item per learner.
  • Record observations to adjust remediation or enrichment groups.
For home use
  • Share a direct link to the app page; suggest 10–15 minutes of practice, 3–4× per week.
  • Encourage learners to speak answers aloud for phonics/reading activities.
